Ferencváros beats Twente to reach Europa League third round

Ferencvárosi TC secured progression in the 2026‑27 Europa League qualifiers by overcoming Dutch side FC Twente 4‑3 on aggregate. After a 2‑1 first‑leg win in Enschede, the second leg in Budapest ended 2‑2. Ferencváros took an early lead through a penalty by Toon Raemaekers, and Lenny Joseph added a second goal in the second half. Twente were reduced to ten men when midfielder Philippe Rommens received a red card after a VAR review. The Dutch side responded with goals from Wout Weghorst and Lucas Vennegoor of Hesselink, but could not overturn the deficit. The victory sends Ferencváros into the third qualifying round, where they will face Polish club Górnik Zabrze, while Twente drop to the Conference League. Dutch media and Twente players criticised the performance, citing a lack of efficiency and maturity despite dominating possession.
