Ferencváros defeats Celtic 3-1 in Europa League opener
Ferencváros secured a significant 3-1 away victory against Celtic in their Europa League group stage opener at Celtic Park. The Hungarian champions took control of the match despite early pressure from the hosts.
The scoring began in the 20th minute when a shot by Bamidele Yusuf deflected off Liam Scales to count as an own goal. Celtic managed to equalize through Mika Baur in the 44th minute, but Ferencváros responded immediately. Kristoffer Zachariassen scored in first-half stoppage time to restore the lead.
Shortly after the restart, Daniel Arzani delivered a spectacular strike from the edge of the area into the top corner to make it 3-1. Arzani, a former Celtic player, was highly praised for his performance. Ferencváros manager Balázs Borbély noted that his team played with confidence and executed their game plan effectively.
The result marks a strong start for Ferencváros in European competition, while adding to the recent difficulties faced by Celtic, who have struggled in both domestic and European fixtures.
