The Hungarian state secretary for sports, Attila Kálnoki-Kiss, has launched an investigation into the use of 25 billion HUF in state funds by Ferencvárosi Torna Club (FTC). The funds, granted in 2016 and 2017, were originally earmarked for infrastructure and construction projects at the former Építők-sporttelep, but officials note that almost no progress has been made on these projects in ten years.

Authorities are specifically examining how 11.2 billion HUF of these funds was allegedly transferred to the club's professional football Zrt. and used to purchase the playing rights of 38 professional players between 2019 and 2024. The ministry is seeking clarification on the legal basis for transferring infrastructure-designated funds to the operational entity of the football team.

FTC President Gábor Kubatov has responded to the allegations, stating that all funds were used legally and in accordance with their intended purpose. He has submitted documentation to the state secretary to prove the legitimacy of the expenditures and urged calm, asserting that 'everything is fine.'
