Ferencváros defeats Celtic in Europa League opener amid political tensions

Ferencváros secured a 3-1 away victory against Celtic in the opening round of the Europa League group stage. Goals for the Hungarian side were scored by Baur (following an own goal by Scales), Zachariassen, and Arzani.

Amidst this sporting success, the club faces internal and political tensions. New government regulations regarding conflict of interest may prevent long-time club president Gábor Kubatov from running in the upcoming October elections. Additionally, Ferencváros ultras targeted Minister of Education and Children's Affairs Judit Lannert during a domestic match against Nyíregyháza, protesting her previous comments regarding the national team.
