Ferhat Gedik commemorated on ninth anniversary of death

Jandarma Senior Sergeant Major Ferhat Gedik was commemorated at his graveside in the İskenderun district of Hatay on the ninth anniversary of his death. Gedik was killed on August 11, 2017, during a clash with PKK terrorists in the Maçka district of Trabzon, alongside 15-year-old Eren Bülbül, whom he was attempting to protect.

The commemoration ceremony was attended by Gedik’s mother, Hatice Gedik, as well as local law enforcement, judicial officials, and members of the Coast Guard. Attendees offered prayers and laid carnations at the grave.

Gedik’s brother, Arif Gedik, also visited the site, expressing a mixture of grief and pride. He noted that while the pain of the loss remains fresh, the family takes pride in the sacrifice made for the country’s integrity. He described his brother as someone who had dreamed of being a soldier since childhood.
