Feria de León faces concert reductions due to funding changes
The León State Fair (Feria Estatal de León) faces a significant reduction in its musical lineup for the 2027 edition due to changes in state funding models. Héctor Rodríguez Velázquez, president of the Board of Directors, announced that the Board lacks the budget to finance additional concerts beyond the four or five shows that the State Government of Guanajuato will pay for directly.
Under a new model implemented by the State Secretariat of Tourism and Identity (Secturi), the government will provide services “in kind” rather than transferring large sums of money to the Fair's Board, as was done in previous years. This shift follows a period where the state injected 150 million pesos into the event, allowing for a lineup of 14 national and international artists.
The Board is currently requesting 28 million pesos from the Municipality of León, which includes 5 million for a commemorative parade and 23 million for a headline show. While the reduction in concerts marks a departure from recent years of high-profile international acts, officials stated that the event remains focused on its other attractions.
