West African economic infrastructure and investment updates
Several regional economic developments are underway in West Africa. In Côte d’Ivoire, a new market was inaugurated in Tanda on October 11, 2026, to replace an area previously used as a landfill and to revitalize local commerce following past fires. Meanwhile, in Abengourou, local administration faces scrutiny over delayed infrastructure projects, including markets and roads, three years after a change in local government.
In northern Côte d’Ivoire, the Moroccan Ambassador, Othman El Ferdaous, is encouraging Moroccan firms to invest in the upcoming Ferkessédougou Dry Port. The project, which has seen 460 million euros in commitments, aims to serve as a major logistics hub for the Sahelian hinterland.
In Morocco, construction has begun on a new International Business Center in Mohammedia. The 82.56 million dirham project, led by the Casablanca-Settat Chamber of Commerce, will provide incubation spaces, offices, and exhibition areas to support entrepreneurs and boost regional economic attractiveness.
