FERMA begins maintenance on Zuba-Abaji-Kogi border road
The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has launched a one-month routine and preventive maintenance project on the Zuba-Abaji-Kogi State border road in the Federal Capital Territory. The work covers the stretch between Chainage (CH) 46+000 and CH 88+000 and began on Monday, August 10, 2026.
Approved by FERMA Managing Director Engr. Chukwuemeka Agbasi, the initiative aims to extend the lifespan of the road infrastructure and mitigate the effects of heavy rainfall through improved drainage. The agency noted that the road is a strategic transportation corridor vital to the Nigerian economy.
Beyond infrastructure improvements, the program is intended to enhance highway visibility, reduce road accidents, and decrease insecurity. FERMA also stated that the project seeks to provide legitimate employment opportunities for local youth to discourage criminal activity.
