Fermi Institute in Modena completes seismic reinforcement works

Seismic reinforcement works at the Fermi Institute in Modena have been completed. The project focused on the classrooms and laboratories located on via Caula, aiming to increase the building's resistance to seismic events to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The total investment for this intervention amounted to 3,022,702.60 euros. Funding was provided through a combination of 1.6 million euros from PNRR funds, 1.2 million euros from the Province of Modena's own resources, and 162,000 euros from ministerial funds. The works, which began following their handover in October 2023, were carried out by Spada Costruzioni Srl.

Technicians utilized advanced technologies, including the application of steel elements and carbon fiber (FRP) strips, to reinforce the vertical pillars and horizontal beams of one of the complex's three structural units. Since the 2012 earthquake, a total of 8.8 million euros has been invested in the Fermi Institute campus.
