Fermo hosts Chinese student delegation to strengthen cultural ties

A delegation of Chinese students from Henan province was recently received by the municipal administration of Fermo, Italy. The visit follows a letter of intent signed ten months ago in Beijing to foster cooperation and friendly exchanges between the Xicheng municipality and the delegations of Fermo and Macerata.

The collaboration aims to strengthen ties in cultural, touristic, and economic sectors. The exchange is deeply rooted in the historical legacy of missionaries Teodorico Pedrini and Matteo Ricci, who served in China. Pedrini, born in Fermo in 1671, was a musician at the Qing imperial court, while Ricci was a prominent missionary from the Macerata region.

Local officials, including Fermo Mayor Alberto Maria Scarfini, met with the students at Palazzo dei Priori to mark this ongoing path of friendship between the two regions.
