Fermosa Biosiderúrgica plant to begin testing in November
Construction of the Fermosa Biosiderúrgica plant in Formosa is nearing completion, with initial testing expected to begin in late October or November. Camilo Orrabalis, the Secretary of Science and Technology of Formosa, stated that industrial installation is in its final stages, including the setup of blowers, heat exchange systems, conveyor belts, and molds for solidifying molten pig iron.
In Los Matacos, efforts are underway to purchase vinal wood for charcoal production, a critical input for creating green pig iron alongside iron ore arriving via the waterway. The project, located within the Formosa Science and Technology Pole, is expected to generate significant employment. Currently, over 140 people are working on the final construction phases, with further direct and indirect jobs anticipated in logistics, charcoal production, and wood harvesting once operations commence.
