Fernanda Miño seeks funds for popular neighborhood urbanization
National Deputy Fernanda Miño is advocating for the extension of the socio-urban emergency status for a period of ten years. The proposed initiative, supported by more than 140 legislators, aims to recover resources for infrastructure projects in popular neighborhoods.
Miño emphasized that the focus should not only be on constructing new housing but also on improving the infrastructure of existing neighborhoods. She noted that many of the country's more than 6,400 popular neighborhoods lack essential services such as potable water, electricity, lighting, and proper drainage, leading to issues like flooding and fires caused by deficient electrical connections.
