Fernanda Trías releases new short story collection ‘Miembro fantasma’

Uruguayan writer Fernanda Trías has released a new collection of short stories titled ‘Miembro fantasma’ (Phantom Limb), published by Páginas de Espuma. The work was recently presented at Espacio Colombre in Seville.

Trías draws inspiration from the scientific phenomenon of phantom limbs—where amputees feel sensations in missing appendages—using it as a metaphor for grief, loss, and historical memory. The title story is set during the Uruguayan dictatorship, a period Trías experienced during her childhood. Through this narrative, she explores the difficulty of reconstructing memories from a time when the collective and personal history remains painful and elusive.
