Fernando Alonso battles uncompetitive Aston Martin car at Monaco Grand Prix

Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso said the Aston Martin car was "very difficult to drive" during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, citing problematic gear‑shift changes, an inconsistent engine response and insufficient front‑chassis grip. He noted that the rear‑wheel lock‑up he experienced in free practice highlighted a broader reliability and gearbox issue that hampers performance on the tight street circuit.

Alonso, who qualified near the back of the grid, said the team will make extensive adjustments before the final practice and qualifying sessions, hoping to improve the car's handling and energy‑recovery system. The team’s struggles contrast with competitors such as Mercedes and Red Bull, whose cars appear more suited to Monaco's demanding layout.
