Fernando Alonso discusses future with Aston Martin

Fernando Alonso has indicated that discussions regarding his future with Aston Martin are expected to intensify in the coming weeks. The 45-year-old double world champion stated there is no fixed deadline for a decision, though he plans to meet with team owner Lawrence Stroll during the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort.

Potential discussions may also take place during the Italian Grand Prix in Monza or at the team's factory in Silverstone. Alonso mentioned that returning to the factory to use the simulator could provide opportunities to speak with Stroll or Adrian Newey.

Speculation suggests a contract extension could be announced in Madrid between September 11 and 13, providing a symbolic setting for the Spanish driver. This comes as Aston Martin navigates technical challenges, including recent drivability issues and active aerodynamics failures encountered during the Dutch Grand Prix weekend, despite the introduction of the Honda Spec 2 power unit.
