Fernando Alonso discusses racing mindset and mentorship

Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso has discussed his intense psychological approach to racing, stating, “I am not a happy person inside the car.” He explained that when he puts on his helmet, he views driving as a job requiring absolute concentration and the delivery of results for his team, effectively separating his personal emotions from his professional performance.

This professional focus is mirrored in his role as a mentor through his management agency, A14 Management. Gabriel Bortoleto, the Brazilian driver managed by Alonso and currently racing for Audi (via Sauber), has provided insight into Alonso’s personality. Bortoleto noted that Alonso is authentic and does not pretend for the cameras, often using sarcasm in his interactions. Bortoleto, the 2024 F2 champion, represents the first driver to reach the top category under Alonso’s management.
