Madrid hosts new Formula 1 circuit as Alonso discusses future FAST-MOVING

Formula 1 has returned to Madrid with the debut of a new semi-urban circuit located between Ifema and Valdebebas. The 5.47 km track features 22 turns, including the highly banked 'La Monumental' curve, and is scheduled to host the Spanish Grand Prix through 2035.

Ahead of the race weekend, Fernando Alonso made headlines both for his personal activities and his professional uncertainty. In Barcelona, Alonso drove historic cars from his private collection, including the 1984 Toleman and 1989 McLaren MP4-5 previously raced by Ayrton Senna.

During official press conferences in Madrid, Alonso remained vague regarding his future with Aston Martin, stating, “I am not sure,” and noting that he needs to evaluate the upcoming technical regulations. He expressed dissatisfaction with current car driving dynamics, remarking that they are “not the most fun to drive.”

On the track, early sessions showed mixed results. While the new circuit has generated significant interest for its technical complexity, Alonso faced challenges with his AMR26, including a clutch issue that caused a delay in his training sessions. Kimi Antonelli led the early timing charts during practice.
