Fernando Alonso secures 2006 F1 title at Brazilian Grand Prix

On October 22, 2006, Fernando Alonso clinched his second Formula 1 World Championship at the Brazilian Grand Prix, defeating rival Michael Schumacher. The championship race was decided following Schumacher's struggles during the season, including a fuel pressure issue in qualifying at Suzuka that left him starting 10th.

During the final race at Interlagos, Schumacher attempted a comeback after starting further back on the grid. Despite early progress, a puncture caused by contact with another car dropped him to 20th place, significantly trailing the race leader, Felipe Massa. The event also marked the retirement of the seven-time champion Michael Schumacher from Formula 1.
