Fernando Alonso secures eighth place at Bahrain Grand Prix

Fernando Alonso secured an eighth-place finish at the Bahrain Grand Prix held in Sepang, Malaysia, following a series of strategic developments and safety car interventions. Despite an initial poor tire choice that caused him to lose time on slick tires, Alonso managed to maintain his position during chaotic race conditions.

Alonso noted that the presence of the safety car, triggered by Valtteri Bottas sliding off, helped mitigate the impact of his tire strategy. He also successfully defended his position against Lando Norris during the race. The driver attributed his ability to stay competitive to his anticipation of race incidents and the predictable nature of safety car deployments at this circuit.

Earlier in the weekend, Alonso achieved a 12th-place qualifying position, which was Aston Martin’s best starting spot of the season. His teammate, Lance Stroll, qualified 14th. While the performance was encouraging, Alonso urged caution, noting that the Aston Martin-Honda power unit lacks the top-end speed required to compete with faster cars on the straights.
