Fernando Alonso undecided on future, considers endurance racing or team role

Two‑time Formula 1 world champion Fernando Alonso said he will make a decision about his F1 future during the summer break, and that the timing is not linked to Aston Martin’s upcoming upgrade package for the Hungarian Grand Prix. He added he has “no idea” what he will do after he eventually retires from Formula 1.

Alonso was asked about walking the Camino de Santiago and said he would consider it only after his newborn son is older. He expressed a desire to stay involved in motorsport, mentioning a possible return to endurance racing, a goal to win the Dakar Rally, and the prospect of taking a non‑driving role within the Aston Martin team to help the outfit.

His past achievements include World Endurance Championship titles in 2018‑19, two Le Mans 24‑hour victories with Toyota, a Daytona 24‑hour win with Cadillac, and entries in the Indianapolis 500. His retirement decision is a key factor for Aston Martin’s driver line‑up, with the team hoping he remains at the seat through 2027.
