Fernando Carvalho critiques foreign player recruitment trends

Former Internacional official Fernando Carvalho has criticized the current trend of prioritizing foreign signings in Brazilian football. While stating he is not against hiring foreign players, Carvalho argued against making them the primary administrative focus, noting that such a strategy can negatively impact the development of local youth talent.

In contrast to his critique of Internacional's approach, Carvalho praised the recent recruitment strategy of Grêmio. He highlighted the signings of right-back Diego Caito from Goiás and defender Wallace from CRB as excellent moves, noting that both players were recruited from the Brazilian Série B rather than being high-profile or overly sought-after international names.
