Fernando Franco's film 'Lorca' begins shooting in Granada
Spanish‑Belgian director Fernando Franco has started filming "Lorca", a feature about poet Federico García Lorca’s last weeks during the Spanish Civil War. The six‑week shoot takes place in Granada, Madrid and Soria, using historic sites such as the Albaicín neighbourhood and the Huerta de San Vicente where the poet was held.
The screenplay, written by Fernando Navarro, stars Nacho Sánchez in the lead role and includes actors Francesco Carril, Stéphanie Magnin, Puchi Lagarde and Pepo Oliva. Production companies La Terraza Films, Ferdydurke Films, Ikiru Films and others provide a budget of more than €2.5 million, with financing from the ICAA, Eurimages and participation from RTVE, Movistar Plus and Canal Sur. The film will be released by LaZona Pictures.
