Fernando Haddad proposes reviewing digital platforms in São Paulo schools

São Paulo gubernatorial candidate Fernando Haddad has pledged to review the use of digital platforms in state schools if elected. His proposal aims to address concerns regarding teacher autonomy and the pressure to use standardized content.

The plan includes ending screen-time targets and revising existing educational tools. Currently, approximately 3 million students in the state network have access to up to eight different digital platforms, such as TarefaSP and Redação Paulista. While the state education department noted that students completed over 2.5 billion activities in these systems in 2025, Haddad argues the current model of centralized monitoring and evaluation impacts pedagogical freedom.
