Fernando Meirelles' dystopian film 'Corrida dos Bichos' to debut on Prime Video

Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles, together with co‑director Ernesto Solis, is releasing the dystopian feature "Corrida dos Bichos" on Prime Video on 7 August. The film portrays a future Rio de Janeiro ravaged by climate change and dominated by a brutal animal‑racing spectacle that reflects widening wealth gaps and rising authoritarianism.

The picture, billed as the most expensive Brazilian production at roughly R$ 20 million, features an ensemble cast that includes Rodrigo Santoro, Isis Valverde, Bruno Gagliasso, Grazi Massafera, Seu Jorge and a cameo by singer Anitta. A new teaser highlighted the high‑budget visual style and confirmed the streaming release window.
