The 51st edition of the Copa Rotativa de Golf, the oldest tournament in the northern region of the Dominican Republic, is being held at the Playa Dorada Golf Club. This year's competition honors Fernando ‘Don Nano’ Ortega Brugal, a prominent businessman and philanthropist recognized as an emblematic figure in the local golf community for his long-standing dedication to the sport.

The tournament has reached a record participation of 150 players, consisting of 64 club members and 86 guests, including national golfers and Dominican residents from the United States. The event follows a stroke play format for players with handicaps ranging from 0 to 24.

Preliminary results show Mario Román and Owen Stewart sharing the lead with 69 strokes, followed by Ron Mercer in third place with 70. The competition began on August 29 and is scheduled to conclude on September 5. The opening ceremony included civil and military authorities, club officials, and representatives from the Rotary Club.
