Fernando Sastre sentenced to 17 years for fatal Porsche crash in São Paulo
Entrepreneur Fernando Sastre de Andrade Filho has been sentenced to 17 years, one month, and 10 days in prison for the death of app driver Ornaldo da Silva Viana. The sentence, handed down in a closed regime, follows a high-speed collision on March 31, 2024, in the Tatuapé district of São Paulo.
During the trial, a jury recognized Sastre's responsibility for qualified homicide with eventual intent, meaning he assumed the risk of causing death, as well as for causing serious bodily injury to Marcus Vinícius Machado Rocha, a passenger in the Porsche. Forensic reports indicated the luxury vehicle was traveling at speeds between 136 km/h and 156 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
Sastre admitted during the proceedings to consuming alcohol before driving, contradicting previous statements where he claimed to have only consumed water. In addition to the prison term, the court prohibited him from driving. The victim's son, Lucas Silva, stated that the verdict represents justice for his family.
