Fernando Signorini criticizes football business and player health

Fernando Signorini, the longtime physical trainer for Diego Maradona, has criticized the current state of professional football, arguing that economic interests are being prioritized over the sport and player health. In an interview ahead of his book presentation, ‘Diego desde adentro’, in Río Gallegos, Signorini addressed the issue of match overloading and the role of governing bodies in the modern game.

Signorini reflected on his career alongside Maradona, noting that his role as the first personal physical trainer in football history began following Maradona’s serious injury at Barcelona in 1983. He also recalled preparing for the 1986 World Cup in Mexico and working with Maradona during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. His upcoming visit to the Provincial Book Fair in Río Gallegos will include interactive debates regarding his experiences with the late Argentine star.
