Fernando Tatis Jr. achieves historic MLB offensive turnaround

Fernando Tatis Jr. has completed a historic offensive turnaround during the 2026 MLB season with the San Diego Padres. After a significant slump where he went 55 consecutive games without a home run, the Dominican outfielder hit his first home run of the season on May 30 against the Colorado Rockies.

Following that breakthrough, Tatis Jr. achieved a feat unprecedented in Major League Baseball history, hitting 23 home runs in a 94-game span after his initial drought. His resurgence has been marked by extreme power and speed, including a September stretch where he batted .358 with two home runs and four stolen bases in his first 59 appearances.

With 175 career home runs, Tatis Jr. has also surpassed Julio Franco on the list of Dominican players with the most home runs in MLB history. He now trails only Ketel Marte for the top position among Dominican players.
