Fernleigh Track hosts record crowd for annual 15km fun run
A record 2,300 participants competed in the annual Fernleigh 15 fun run, marking a 30 per cent increase in attendance compared to the previous year. The event took place on the Fernleigh Track, running from Adamstown to Belmont, and aims to promote safe usage of the path.
In the main categories, Michael Roeger won the male division, Annabelle Colman won the female division, and Neil McLennan won the wheelchair category. Roeger, a prominent Australian Paralympic long-distance runner, also won the male Triple T (Time to Tunnel) sprint challenge, which was won by Hyewon Wilson in the female category.
The event included a 1500m race for children, won by Emma Shiels and Leon Pratten. Beyond the competition, the run served a charitable purpose, with runners raising approximately $15,000 for various causes and an additional $10,000 in donations being directed to supporting clubs and organisations.
