Fernán Mirás discusses health crisis and personal life

Argentine actor and director Fernán Mirás shared personal details regarding a life-threatening health crisis and his family history during an appearance on the Telefe program ‘PH, Podemos Hablar’.

Mirás recounted surviving a ruptured artery caused by a genetic aneurysm. He described the urgency of the situation, noting that medical professionals informed him he required emergency surgery within 15 minutes. During the high-risk wait, he sent indirect WhatsApp messages to his children to express his love in case the procedure was fatal. Following a successful surgery, he spent two weeks in intensive care.

Additionally, Mirás reflected on his long-term relationship and subsequent separation from María Amelia Chaves. The couple, who began their relationship in 1999 and married a year later, share three children: Santiago, and twins Sebastián and Sofía. Mirás noted that while he has maintained a public career in television and film, Chaves has consistently preferred to remain out of the media spotlight.
