Feroz Khan to testify before Madlanga Commission following relative's fatal shooting

Dismissed Crime Intelligence deputy head Major-General Feroz Khan is scheduled to testify before the Madlanga Commission. His testimony will begin in camera (behind closed doors) to protect confidential informants and ongoing investigations into organized crime. The commission is investigating allegations that Khan interfered with a 2021 cocaine seizure involving 715kg of narcotics and has questioned his sudden increase in wealth, including a property portfolio and a significant rise in vehicle ownership.

The testimony follows a violent incident on Monday night where Preggy Padayachee, a close relative and associate of Khan, was shot and killed on the R21 near Johannesburg. Padayachee, identified as Khan’s uncle or uncle-in-law, died at the scene after a vehicle crash following the gunfire, while another individual was wounded. While police have opened murder and attempted murder cases, they have not officially linked the shooting to the Madlanga Commission or the allegations against Khan.
