Ferran Torres named official ambassador of the Valencian Community

The president of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, received footballer Ferran Torres and signed a two‑year, cost‑free protocol that makes Torres the official ambassador of the Comunitat Valenciana. The agreement aims to promote the region’s cultural, sporting and social image internationally.

Pérez Llorca also announced plans to award the High Distinction of the Generalitat to both Ferran Torres and fellow Valencian world‑cup champion Alex Grimaldo. While Torres will receive a formal reception and the ambassador role, Grimaldo has so far only been honored locally with a gold medal from his hometown, highlighting a disparity in official recognition.

The move underscores the regional government’s effort to leverage the players’ World Cup success to boost the Valencian Community’s global profile.
