Ferrara hosts conference on youth football development
The two-day conference “Il futuro in gioco” (The Future at Stake) has opened in Ferrara, organized by the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti (LND) as part of the “Quarto Tempo” initiative. The event focuses on the development of young football players and strengthening the dialogue between amateur and professional football.
A technical table brought together national and territorial LND governance, Lega Pro leadership, and representatives from Club Italia FIGC to discuss talent growth. Key discussions centered on the role of amateur clubs and local territories in training pathways and improving the connection to professional football.
The program includes contributions from LND President Giancarlo Abete, Lega Pro President Matteo Marani, and Ferrara Sport Assessor Francesco Carità. Gianfranco Zola, Vice President of Lega Pro, participated remotely to discuss the strategic value of the “Zola Reform.” Additionally, the event features discussions led by Italy Under-21 coach Silvio Baldini and youth national team coordinator Maurizio Viscidi regarding the Club Italia FIGC model.
