Ferrara hosts cultural tour of historical artisan and merchant heritage
Approximately 150 participants took part in the second edition of ‘Storie di artigiani e mercanti nella Ferrara antica’ (Stories of artisans and merchants in ancient Ferrara). Promoted by Confartigianato Ferrara, the initiative aimed to highlight the city's historical identity through the lens of craftsmanship and trade.
Guided by Francesco Buttino, the tour traversed the Addizione di Borso d’Este, visiting landmarks such as Palazzo Tassoni, the church of Santa Francesca Romana, the San Pietro gate, and the monastery of Sant’Antonio in Polesine. The route also included Palazzo Costabili and explored the legacy of master cabinetmakers like the Canozi family.
A notable highlight of the event was the exceptional opening of the Church of Sant’Apollonia, which had remained closed to the public since 1972. The tour concluded at the Baluardo dell’Amore, connecting the city's Estense heritage with the universal value of artisanal skill.
