Ferrara replaces historic Montagnone slides
The historic slides at the Montagnone in Viale Alfonso I d’Este, Ferrara, have been replaced following a renovation project costing 25,000 euros. The original fiberglass structures, which had been in place since the mid-1980s, were removed due to significant wear and deterioration that rendered them unsafe for use.
To preserve the site's local character, the new custom-made plastic slides maintain the same slopes and positions as the previous versions while meeting modern safety and compliance standards. The new structures are secured to the ground with specialized brackets and concrete anchors, with access provided via a nearby earthen ramp.
Mayor Alan Fabbri noted that the project aims to return a beloved local landmark to families, allowing residents who played on the slides as children to visit with their own children. The installation is complete, and the area is now open to the public.
