Ferrara security committee announces new measures for Riva del Po and railway station

The Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, chaired by Prefect Massimo Marchesiello, has met to address security concerns and structural vulnerabilities in the Ferrara province.

In Riva del Po, authorities are implementing enhanced security measures, including increased video surveillance and neighborhood watch programs, to combat a rise in residential burglaries. While overall crime rates show a slight decline, burglaries in the first eight months of 2026 have already exceeded the total recorded in 2025, specifically following a surge of thefts in mid-August.

Regarding the Ferrara railway station, the committee and Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane have outlined plans to tackle degradation and unauthorized encampments. Measures include the mandatory closing of train doors during overnight stays, improved perimeter lighting, and the installation of anti-climb fencing at the FS Park. Additionally, video surveillance will be modernized and extended to the platform 1 area to improve monitoring and safety.
