Ferrari 250 GT Sperimentale wins Gran Turismo Trophy at Pebble Beach

The 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Sperimentale Pininfarina Coupe has been awarded the Gran Turismo Trophy at the 75th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, California. This one-off prototype served as a testbed for the legendary 250 GTO, featuring a dry-sump 3-litre Colombo V12 engine and a unique aerodynamic body designed by Pininfarina.

As the 18th recipient of the award, the vehicle is eligible for a digital recreation within the Gran Turismo video game series. The award is part of a long-standing partnership between Pebble Beach and the franchise that began in 2008. This year’s event featured Ferrari as the headline marque.

The trophy was presented by Takuya Asano, director of Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo Explore Studio. The winning car is owned by Bruce R. McCaw, who previously won the Gran Turismo Trophy in 2017 with a Mercedes-Benz S Barker Tourer.
