Ferrari 250 P prototype set for multi‑million dollar auction at Pebble Beach

The 1963 Ferrari 250 P prototype, chassis No. 0810, is scheduled to be sold at Gooding Christie’s flagship auction in Pebble Beach, California, during Monterey Car Week. The car, the first Ferrari competition model with a mid‑mounted V12 engine, achieved podium finishes at the 1963 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans before racing in the United States with the North American Racing Team. Its historic engineering, led by chief engineer Mauro Forghieri and driver John Surtees, marked a turning point for Enzo Ferrari’s racing philosophy. Collectors now view the chassis as a “grail” piece, with estimates that the auction could fetch up to €18 million (about $20 million).
