Ferrari advances Hypersail hydrofoil monohull project

Ferrari has unveiled progress on its Hypersail project, a 100-foot (30.5-meter) energy-self-sufficient hydrofoil monohull. The vessel is currently under construction near Pisa, Italy, in a facility located along the Navicelli canal.

The project has reached a significant milestone with the completion of the hull's painting and the arrival of the submerged appendages at the shipyard. These components, which include foils, a keel, and a rudder, are essential for generating lift and controlling the boat's stability above the water.

To manage the vessel's dynamics, Ferrari introduced 'Flight Control,' an automated electronic system designed to manage the boat's attitude. The keel features a distinctive innovation: an integrated foil with its own movable flap, providing a third point of support alongside the side foils and the rudder. Initial sailing trials for the Hypersail are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027.
