Lando Norris takes Hungarian GP pole as Hamilton and Antonelli receive grid penalties

Lando Norris secured pole position for the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix with a lap time of 1:17.207, edging Lewis Hamilton by 0.012 seconds. Hamilton had originally qualified second but was handed a three‑place grid penalty for impeding Oscar Piastri during the qualifying run. Kimi Antonelli also received a three‑place penalty after the stewards judged that he failed to slow sufficiently under yellow‑flag conditions.

The penalties reshuffled the starting grid: Norris on pole, Charles Leclerc promoted to second, Oscar Piastri to third, Max Verstappen to fourth, Hamilton to fifth, George Russell to sixth and Antonelli to seventh. In the race, Norris converted his pole into victory, with Max Verstappen finishing second and Antonelli third, while Hamilton finished fifth after starting from the fifth row.
