Ferrari enters final construction phase of Hypersail sailing yacht

Ferrari has reached a major milestone in the development of its Hypersail, a 100-foot (approximately 30-meter) flying sailing yacht. The carbon fiber hull is now complete, and the production of the foils, keel, and rudder has also been finalized, marking the beginning of the project's last construction phase.

Designed to glide above the water using underwater hydrofoils to minimize resistance, the yacht aims to reach speeds of up to 50 knots (approximately 92 kilometers per hour) without the use of a motor. The vessel utilizes advanced materials, including carbon fiber layers for weight reduction and titanium reinforcement for high-stress components.

A central feature of the yacht is the ‘Flight Control’ system, an automated electronic brain that adapts vehicle dynamics technology from Ferrari’s automotive engineering. This system uses a distributed network of sensors to process real-time data on wind, waves, and heel, allowing mechanical actuators to make micro-adjustments to stability and trim. This automation is intended to handle complex dynamic tasks, allowing the crew to focus on strategic navigation.
