Ferrari unveils 296 GT Modificata track-only supercar
Ferrari has unveiled the 296 GT Modificata, an extremely limited-production, track-only two-seater designed for the brand’s Club Competizioni GT program. Revealed during the Ferrari Racing Days at the Hungaroring in Budapest, the model succeeds the 488 GT Modificata.
Developed from the 296 GT3 Evo, the Modificata version is engineered without the constraints of Balance of Performance (BoP) racing regulations. This allows for a significant performance boost, featuring a 2,992cc V6 engine that produces 730 hp (537 kW) at 7,500 rpm—approximately 130 hp more than the standard GT3 Evo. The engine incorporates technology derived from the 499P Modificata, including redesigned turbochargers and an optimized fuel system.
Key technical upgrades include a new slotted splitter for increased downforce, a redesigned rear wing with endplates inspired by the 499P, and enhanced thermal management through a modified bonnet and cooling ducts. The car also features a six-speed sequential gearbox with a carbon clutch and upgraded steel brake discs. Ferrari claims the vehicle can lap the Fiorano circuit up to three seconds faster than the 296 GT3 Evo. Owners will receive participation rights in 12 Club Competizioni GT events over two years.
