Ferrari F40 sells for over 3.3 million Swiss francs at auction
A 1991 Ferrari F40, featuring a 'catalytic converter and non-adjustable suspension' specification, has sold at an RM Sotheby’s auction for 3,323,750 Swiss francs (approximately 631.98 million yen).
Originally delivered to Switzerland in July 1991, the vehicle is finished in Rosso Corsa with Stoffa Vigogna red fabric upholstery. The F40 was developed to celebrate Ferrari’s 40th anniversary and was the final road car personally approved by Enzo Ferrari. It features a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing approximately 471-478 horsepower.
Designed by Pininfarina, the model utilized advanced lightweight materials such as carbon fiber and Kevlar to reduce weight by roughly 20% while significantly increasing structural rigidity. This specific model represents a simplified, performance-oriented configuration, eschewing complex adjustable suspension systems for a more direct driving experience.
