Ferrari F40: The legendary supercar and collector icon

The Ferrari F40, produced in 1987 to celebrate the company's 40th anniversary, remains a legendary supercar known for its raw, racing-inspired performance. As the last production car approved by Enzo Ferrari, it was designed with a focus on extreme lightweight construction, utilizing a steel spaceframe with Kevlar and carbon panels to achieve a dry weight of just 1,100kg.

Technical specifications include a 2.9L V8 twin-turbo engine producing 478PS, making it the first production car to exceed 200 mph. Due to the absence of power steering, ABS, or modern driver aids, the vehicle requires significant physical strength and technical skill to operate.

The F40 has maintained a strong connection to the Formula 1 community, with numerous drivers including Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, and Alain Prost having owned or expressed admiration for the model. While originally intended as a limited run of 400 units, 1,311 were ultimately produced. Today, the car holds immense collector value, with auction prices occasionally exceeding 500 million yen.
