Ferrari gains early edge on new Madrid F1 circuit ahead of Spanish Grand Prix

Ferrari completed a FIA‑approved filming session on the new 5.416 km Madrid circuit in July, with Charles Leclerc covering the full 200 km allowed. Leclerc praised the 22‑corner layout, noting the steep 547 m La Monumental turn that can generate up to 4 g for several seconds, and said the track’s city‑type character suits his driving style.

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella said the footage gives Ferrari a “small advantage” heading into the Spanish Grand Prix weekend of 11‑13 September, but expects the benefit to be short‑lived as other teams gather their own data. The race will be the final European round of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
