Ferrari secures pole at COTA after identical qualifying time with Cadillac

Antonio Giovinazzi secured pole position for the Lone Star Le Mans at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in a historic Hyperpole session. In a rare occurrence for the Hypercar era, Giovinazzi and Jack Aitken recorded identical lap times of 1:52.445. Under sporting regulations, the pole was awarded to Giovinazzi in the Ferrari 499P #51 because he set the time first. Aitken, driving the Cadillac V-Series R #38, will start second.

The top of the Hypercar grid is highly competitive, with Charles Milesi in the Alpine A424 #35 taking third, followed by Harry Tincknell in the Aston Martin Valkyrie #007 in fourth. Nicklas Nielsen secured fifth for Ferrari. Notably, the Genesis GMR-001 made a strong debut, placing both cars in the top ten.

In the LMGT3 class, Eduardo Barrichello claimed pole position for the Aston Martin #23, leading an Aston Martin front row alongside teammate Zacharie Robichon. The qualifying sessions took place under challenging conditions, with track temperatures exceeding 40°C.
