Ferrari Hypersail: 100-foot flying monohull enters final construction phase

Ferrari has unveiled the progress of its Hypersail project, a 100-foot (30.5-meter) flying monohull designed by naval architect Guillaume Verdier to break ocean records. The vessel is currently in the final stages of construction at a shipyard near Pisa, Italy.

The boat is designed to ‘fly’ above the waves using three lifting surfaces: lateral foils, a keel with an integrated foil featuring a movable flap, and a rudder equipped with a small mobile wing. This hardware works in tandem with ‘Flight Control’, an automated management system derived from Ferrari’s expertise in dynamic vehicle control and electronic sensors.

With the hull now painted and the livery applied, the project is moving into its operational phase as the underwater appendages arrive at the shipyard. The team aims to create an energetically self-sufficient vessel. While the exact launch date has not been announced, initial sea trials are anticipated for the first quarter of 2027.
