Ferrari targets engine talent and faces leadership speculation

Ferrari is planning significant recruitment within its engine department to close the performance gap with Mercedes and Red Bull ahead of the 2027 regulations. Reports indicate the Scuderia's current power unit faces a deficit of approximately 20 horsepower compared to Mercedes, despite utilizing FIA development mechanisms.

To address this, Ferrari is targeting experienced engineers, potentially including high-level designers from the Red Bull and Mercedes technical spheres. The goal is to integrate new ideas and expertise to rectify the engine's current weaknesses.

In a separate development regarding team leadership, former Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has expressed interest in a potential return to Formula 1 with Ferrari. Horner, who described the Scuderia as a ‘sleeping giant,’ stated that while he typically requires equity in any team he joins, he would be willing to make an exception for a role at Maranello.
