Ferrari unveils 296 GT Modificata track-only supercar

Ferrari has unveiled the 296 GT Modificata, an extreme, track-only evolution of its V6-powered GT platform. Developed for the company’s Club Competizioni GT program, the limited-production two-seater was presented during Ferrari Racing Days in Budapest.

Unlike the 296 GT3 Evo, which is subject to racing regulations and Balance-of-Performance restrictions, the Modificata is free from homologation requirements. This allows engineers to prioritize outright performance. Ferrari estimates the car could lap its Fiorano test circuit up to three seconds faster than its racing counterpart.

The vehicle is powered by a rear-mid-mounted 2,992-cc, 120-degree twin-turbo V6. Through revisions to the cranktrain, camshafts, induction system, and turbochargers, the engine produces 730 cv (537 kW) at 7,500 rpm and 800 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Power is managed via a six-speed sequential transmission with a carbon clutch.

Aerodynamic enhancements include a new “Slotted Splitter” to increase downforce and a redesigned rear wing featuring a central pylon and 499P-inspired endplates. The car also features upgraded braking systems, including new ventilated steel front discs and revised cooling ducts.
