Ferrari conducts first F1 test at Madrid's new Madring circuit

Ferrari will run its 2026 SF‑26 car on the brand‑new Madring street circuit in Madrid during an official "filming day" on Thursday. Drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will share the duties, covering up to 200 km under the promotional‑session rules. This will be the first time a current‑generation Formula 1 car laps the 5.416 km, 22‑corner track, which features the 550‑m banked "La Monumental" corner.

The session, scheduled ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix on 11‑13 September 2026, gives Ferrari early data on a circuit that has no historical reference for any team. It also serves as a practical test for organizers, who are still completing grandstands and paddock facilities. A source noted the circuit is "incomplete" – “no kerbs, no garages nor pit lane finished.” Ferrari’s recent form, with wins in Silverstone and Barcelona, means the data could help maintain its second place in the Constructors' standings.

The filming day is limited to demo Pirelli tyres, but the information gathered will aid set‑up decisions before the first free‑practice session in September.
